Our Pastor

Living Hope Fellowship has been blessed to have Dr. Leroy Gainey pastor our church family since January 2017. Dr. “G”, as he is affectionately known, is also a professor at Gateway Baptist Theological Seminary. From the moment Dr. G. begins speaking it is evident he is bringing a spirit filled message proclaiming the truth of God’s Word. He speaks with passion, humor, honesty, and integrity. He stands firmly on the Word of God and communicates inter-generationaly, communicating the practical aspects of life seen from God’s perspective through His Word. Each sermon draws one into the pages of scripture and illustrates the importance of a daily walk with our Lord. He is truly a teacher, preacher, and servant of our God.

Dr. G. has many distinguished honors, including his published work, administrative positions, offices he has held, academic addresses, lecturer and many other accomplishments attributed to him. He retired as the Senior Pastor of First Baptist Church, Vacaville in February 2016.

We are proud of Dr. G. being the first trustee elected Black professor at a major Southern Baptist Seminary. And since 1987, he has been the JM Frost Chair/Professor of Educational Leadership at Gateway Seminary (formerly Golden Gate Baptist Theological Seminary).

Dr. Gainey has been a successful church planter and is currently serving at Living Hope Fellowship to help guide the church through a restoration period. Although, Dr. G. is an interim pastor, he has committed to serving and equipping LHF through the process of seeking God’s will for this church to serve in the community.

Dr. Gainey and his wife Cheryl bring truth, hope, and love to the LHF family. They are genuine, humble, spiritually gifted servants of our Lord.

We invite you to take this opportunity to join us every Sunday morning at 11:00 A.M. and Wednesday evenings for midweek Bible study at 6:15 P.M.
